I have recollections of drawing since I was 4 years old; later in elementary school I illustrated our “neighbourhood newspaper”, and eventually studied Graphic Design at St Lawrence College in Cornwall, Ontario, graduating with Honours from the 3 year Creative and Fine Arts program in 1977.

Moving to Windsor was a life-changer in 1978. As a manufacturing city, Windsor didn’t have many jobs in graphic design, but drawing and illustrating skills could lend themselves to technical drawing. Drafting courses followed and within a year, I found myself as the only female “draftsman” in a local civil engineering firm.

Eventually I landed a similar position with the Engineering Department at the City of Windsor where I remained for almost 3 decades moving my way up and branching out to include Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

But art and illustration had always my salvation and outlet, always ever-present in the background. I was commissioned to illustrate a wide variety of works over the years from a school mural, 300 Ink illustrations for a French language literacy series of books, posters and flyers too numerous to mention, drawings and coloured renditions for a variety of uses, some acrylic paintings and always ink drawings, both realistic and stylized, for pleasure, gifts, and numerous promotional products.

Once I retired in 2017, I sought out new ways to explore ink illustrating and discovered Alcohol Ink Painting!

What a relief! I found my niche enjoying the vibrancy of the ink pigments diluted by rubbing alcohol. After many months of self-taught training (thanks to YouTube and the Alcohol Ink Painting Community), I began offering workshops to introduce this medium to others as an exciting, yet relaxing creative outlet that anyone can enjoy. Currently 10 of my framed works can be viewed inside the Windsor Essex Family Services office on Langlois with at least 2 more in the works.

Soon a larger alcohol ink painting will grace a wall at a vacation rental condo in Puerto Vallarta, where 4 smaller paintings already enjoy a home there.

My preferred style is abstract and stylized, combined with a love of colour and always a story to tell. Come out and see for yourselves – enjoy what the vibrant colours of alcohol ink paintings say to you!
