Nora Harvey, a visual artist who works in her home studio in Olde Walkerville/Windsor Ontario, has had a passion for art, drawing and sketching for as long as she can remember.  In her formative years growing up in Hungary, Eastern Europe she discovered her passion for art and spent countless hours sketching and painting. For the past twenty years, she has engaged in drawing, painting, print making, computer rendering and mixed media techniques.

She has become known for her abstract three-dimensional oils and acrylics on canvas which celebrate textured surfaces and rough sculpted contours.  The subject of Nora’s art is always the journey of life. She approaches painting intuitively beginning with a solid textured background which develops into an idea by drawing, painting and sculpting the paint onto the canvas. In order to create a tactile quality she applies layer upon layer of colours that dynamically emerge and recede within the canvas. She has a love of self-mixed colours and applies her paint liberally and spontaneously to create work that is alive with contemporary movement.

Her work is proportioned and balanced with repeated gestural elements that emphasize the composition. She deeply values imagination and plays with illusion and non-verbal expression.
