The Second Time Around was a playroom in the basement of my house when my kids were little. When they outgrew the need for the space, I decided to turn it into a workshop where I could spend time with my friends scrapbooking and preserving memories through photo media. Once the space was converted, my imagination began to flourish and my mediums turned into wood pieces, and pallets and a love of old things was born. I found great joy in taking dirty old discarded items and turning them back into useful pieces of home decor and unique one of a kind pieces. In the past six years, my creativity has soared taking on new projects I never would have imagined that I could accomplish, and trying new things. I have a great fondness for building wood signs, and creating items specifically personal to the individuals they’re created for. Gallery walls are among my favourites as well, allowing me to incorporate new one of a kind pieces and treasure hunt for old and odd pieces to add in. I see the potential in things, and want nothing more than to give them their very own “second time around”.
Most of the decor pieces in my own home, had to be power washed and painted before they could find their place among the other repurposed and newly created items inside. I love the history of the older pieces, and imagine the stories they would tell if they could. My greatest joy is welcoming folks into my home, and sharing the love of one of a kind pieces and seeing others appreciate the artistic expression in each piece. My mantra is that everyone deserves a Home Sense home on a dollar store budget! My favourite people are those Pinterest lovers, the ones who save ideas and pin to boards, dreaming of having that decor one day. My home is Pinterest times a thousand where all those ideas are alive and well and waiting to be seen! The workshop is where everything happens, and the walls are filled with items waiting to take up space in your home. I see ideas that I just have to make, but I can’t keep it all. I live in a state of perpetual redecoration because in my world almost everything is for sale, I’ll just make it again!
